This weekend we stay in this magnificent hotel right in the heart of the City Centre.  We have planned this trip for you to get as much time in the City as possible!

Included: Bed & breakfast at the 4* Mercure Liverpool Atlantic Tower.  This hotel is in an excellent location close to both the City Centre and the Albert Docks.

Day 1:  We drive directly to Liverpool, dropping you off outside the hotel in the City Centre.  The day is at leisure to do as you wish.

Day 2: A full day at leisure to enjoy the City of Liverpool!  We can offer you some great suggestions for your day today…

  • Liverpool ONE shopping center is where you will find everything brands like Swarovski and John Lewis.

Peter’s Lane close by is where you will find designer brands like Radley & Hotel Chocolat.

  • Gin fans! Why not pop into Lynya Deli or Nautica at the Albert Dock where you can purchase the famous gins to take home!
  • If you’re a fan of the Beatles then you shouldn’t miss a visit to The Beatles Story or the Cavern Club on Mathew Street, where the famous four started their journey to world stardom.  The Magical Mystery tour bus takes you to key Beatles landmarks like Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane.
  • The Albert Docks – where sophistication meets heritage buildings.  The Riverside will also have their Christmas stalls out.

Day 3:  This morning after breakfast we pop your luggage (and any shopping!) onto the coach then the day is spent in Liverpool.  The coach departs Liverpool at 4 pm.

1st to 2nd 

Lichfield & Chatsworth House     £99 E 8 pm

Day 1: Today we head over to the Historic Cathedral City of Lichfield which is known for its three-spired Cathedral, historic market and some of the beautiful architecture you can see. Today we are here to visit the Lichfield Christmas Fayre which takes over the Market Square today, the streets are lined with festive market stalls, festive food, drinks and crafts, and a brass band playing along too.

Day 2: After our full English breakfast at the hotel this morning we head up to Chatsworth House in the heart of the Peak District. What a better way to start your Christmas than a visit to the Chatsworth House Christmas Market which is in full swing today. We are of course booked in for a house tour too, and before we head home the coach will call into the Chatsworth House Farm shop for you to have a quick look around.

1st to 2nd

Grassington & York £79 E 8 pm

Day 1: This morning we head to the little town of Grassington where we find their Christmas Market in full swing. Yorkshire has the most wonderful Christmas spirit and we enjoy sampling the local produce as we wander the market stalls and enjoy the little town.

Day 2: York has a great Christmas market and we think its is best visited after the weekend rush! We drop off at the Union Terrace coach park which is a couple of hundred yards (flat) walk into the City Centre. You will find the markets in and around many of the little streets and squares in the City. Find yourself humming along to the festive music as you walk along ‘the Shambles’ shopping street and warm up with a mulled wine (or two!) A lovely, festive day out!

Grassington Dickensian Christmas Market (free admission) £17 E 9 pm

Grassington is a small picturesque village nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. During December the village really comes alive with the arrival of the Dickensian Christmas Market. They transform the village back to the time of Dickens, with shopkeepers, villagers, and visitors all dressed in costume. Just imagine soaking up the festive atmosphere of the cobbled streets, with a warming mulled wine or hot chocolate, next to the festive glow of an open brazier. You can expect a fantastic festive shopping experience, street entertainers, brass bands, choirs and plenty of pubs, cafes and outdoor stalls to choose from.

Day 1: Join us on board our festively decorated coach as we travel through the stunning Welsh scenery into the heart of Mid Wales where we pause a while at the historic town of Welshpool. Enjoy a spot of breakfast in the wonderful Woollen Mill or take a stroll into the town center before the highlight of our tour – we head to one of Wales most outstanding Victorian Homes, the hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir. The Abbey and gardens have been beautifully restored by owners Paul and Victoria Humpherston. The house bursts with innovative and creative interior design ideas all complimented by thousands of collectible items, all used as furnishings. There are 52 rooms in the house and each one of them is furnished, and decorated for Christmas. An amazingly ‘different’ property that is an absolute gem           

.Day 2: After our hearty breakfast this morning we head North to the riverside town of Newtown. Whilst here why not peruse some of the many small museums, such as the Robert Owen Museum, one of the founders of Utopian Socialism and philanthropic social reformer. Or perhaps wander the banks of the river Severn and browse the shops and cafes. After lunch, we head homeward but our trip isn’t done yet! We visit Oswestry – the site of one of England’s best Iron Age Hill Forts.

8th to 9th

Day 1:  With the Festive season firmly upon us we head straight to the medieval market town of Stratford Upon Avon, birthplace to William Shakespeare.  Today is the Victorian Christmas Market with around 150 unique festive stalls on the Riverside, featuring some fantastic gifts, food, and drink. Hum along to the Christmas Carols and perhaps enjoy a glass of mulled wine!  After enjoying time to explore the town we head to the Bosworth Hall Hotel and Spa with plenty of time to relax before our carvery dinner.

Day 2: This morning we enjoy a leisurely full English breakfast before heading to Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District. Best known for its delicious Bakewell Pudding, today we will find the Monday market in full swing. After a few hours over lunchtime at Bakewell, we head the short distance to the stunning Haddon Hall Manor House. Haddon Hall has been used in the filming of Dramas such as ‘Jane Eyre’, ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and ‘The Princess Bride’. Today though we find it beautifully decorated for Christmas, the theme for this year is ‘A Creative Christmas’. Our ‘free flow’ pass will allow us to wander the House in our own time, perhaps take a visit to the banqueting hall where at 2 pm there is live music with a choir ready to perform whilst you take in the roaring log fires and twinkling lights on the Christmas trees.

Please note: due to the age and topography of Haddon, there are many uneven floors and steps within the site. Access for visitors with disabilities and especially those using wheelchairs is very restricted.

Day 1: This morning we head North, arriving at the little Yorkshire Town of Skipton before lunchtime.  Skipton may not compare in size to some of the larger City festivities, but it really does make up for it in the atmosphere.  This pretty little town has the Christmas market running the full length of the high street, with entertainment, bands playing and last year they even had a snow machine! We have plenty of time here before heading to our hotel late afternoon where we enjoy our three-course meal before relaxing, ready for another full day out tomorrow!

Day 2:  This morning after our full cooked breakfast we head to Castle Howard, where the House will be adorned with spectacular decorations throughout, enjoy glistening baubles decorating the famous 35 ft Great hall Tree! With flickering candles and crackling log fires, live music and entertainment, this day out are sure to put you in the Christmas spirit. There will also be a wide range of local seasonal produce in the Cafes, restaurants and Farm Shop and some great gift buying opportunities across the Estate.

Day 1: This morning we head directly to the City of Oxford, the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’. The City is a bustling cosmopolitan town with a real mix of ancient and modern and so much to do with historical buildings, museums, restaurants, and shops. As you wander the City try to spot the sights used in Inspector Morse and Harry Potter! If that isn’t quite enough the City center will also be filled with festive joy as the Christmas market will be located in the heart of the City today. Listen to the sound of choirs singing Christmas carols, market traders offering unusual and handmade gifts, colorful decorations brightening wooden stalls and the aroma of mulled wine and cinnamon drifting in the air. Day 2: After our breakfast this morning we load our cases and head into the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our first stop today is Bourton-on-the-Water ‘the Venice of the Cotswolds’ which has a simplistic charm and an eclectic mix of shops including Cotswolds Perfumery and pottery full of charm. One of the seasonal attractions here is the Christmas tree that is placed in River Windrush in the center of the village each year.

This afternoon we head over to Stow on the Wold which has many fine antique shops, art galleries, gifts and crafts and of course you may choose to look up the history of this fascinating ancient market town.
